Just Keep Swimming!

I read this last week during my morning devotional and I liked it so much. I read it on a day when I really NEEDED to read it. It was just one of those days. I wanted to put it in my blog so I could remember it down the road when I needed to be reminded to "keep swimming"!

Life consistently throws challenges our way. We fall into predicaments we must outlast and face problems with no easy answers. We are thrust into confusing situations that seem beyond our ability to understand, let alone solve. Often the only response we have to our challenge is simply to persevere.

Here is a poem by T.C. Hamlet that describes this very thing so well:

Two frogs fell into a can of cream, Or so I've heard it told;
The sides of the can were shiny and steep, The cream was deep and cold.
"O, what's the use?" croaked No. 1. "Tis fate; no help's around. Good-bye, my friends! Good-bye, sad world!" And weeping still, he drowned.
But Number 2, of sterner stuff, Dog-paddled in surprise,
The while he wiped his creamy face And dried his creamy eyes.
"I'll swim awhile, at least," he said. Or so I've heard he said;
"It really wouldn't help the world If one more frog were dead."
An hour or two he kicked and swam, Not once he stopped to mutter,
But kicked and kicked and swam and kicked, Then hopped out, via butter!

When we are faced with an obstacle, we have two choices: either give up, give in, and face defeat; or keep our faith intact, WAIT for God to show us what to do, then enjoy the victory!

Which choice will you make?

Jesus, please give me strength to keep swimming until you deliver me!

1 Timothy 4:16
