Father-Son Camp Out!
Ok, so unfortunately, this is a pictureless post (because I wasn't there)! ;)
One of our local Chik-fil-a's joined with a local Church and hosted a summer Father-Son campout last night. When Bart agreed to go, he didn't realize they were camping in the Chikfila parking lot! (Oops! I may have left that part out!) ;) There were several other Dads and their sons from our Church so I knew they would have a great time! And they did! They did everything from rock climbing, a zip line, jupiter jump, water balloons, video games, etc... It cost $15 per person and they were able to get anything they wanted the whole time! I am sure they had enough Chikfila chicken to last a lifetime! :) Judd's favorite part was getting to have 2 big cokes! Ha!
Bart was concerned about the sleeping conditions. A friend of ours said they had a really big tent and offered to let Bart and the boys stay with them so he didn't have to bring our tent. I was surprised Bart agreed to that, but he did! Between the heat, humidity, snoring, lights from the parking lot, etc... I don't think much sleep was had by any of them. They did have a great time though!! I know they made some good memories!!
What did I do while my boys were roughing it, you might be wondering? Well, some of the wives that had husbands and kids going to the camp out decided to meet up to do something fun for ourselves (in the air conditioning)! We tried out a new restaurant that was very good! It was near the chikfila where the boys were camping, so we may have spied on them a little! ;) Afterwards, we saw , "Water for Elephants" which was really good! We had a great time and didn't get home until after midnight! I don't know the last time I did that! Ha! One of the girls asked me to stay the night at her house, but I declined and decided to come home instead. It was a little odd coming home to an empty house and trying to go to sleep. Thankfully, morning came quickly and my boys were back home safe and sound with me! :)
I really wish I had some pictures to show for this post! I'll have to make sure Bart takes the camera next time!! (Did I say next time?) Not sure Bart thinks there will be a next time! He had fun, but his idea of camping is in the woods near a lake, not in a parking lot on the steamy hot asphalt! Ha! He was a good sport though! I know the boys loved it!!
Oh, a little funny about the campout. When I was helping the boys get their stuff together, Judd said he was going to take his knife just in case he needed it! (Remember the campout was at Chikfila, not in the woods!) Ha! I told him, the only thing he would need a knife for was to cut his chicken sandwich! Ha!
