19 Years and Counting!

Bart and I celebrated our 19th Wedding Anniversary while in Mobile!  My, how time flies!

Here we are on our Wedding Day!  I don't think we have changed a bit!  Do you?  ;)

We were just babies then!

Thanks to the grandparents for keeping the boys for us, we were able to get away for a little R&R at the Grand Hotel.

It was sooooo nice!  :)

Here are a few pictures I took on our morning walk.  Just beautiful!

We enjoyed massages, pedicures and facials in the spa.  It was so nice!

This was my view in the "quiet room".

Look at Bart getting his first pedicure.  Ha!

I couldn't help but chuckle.  He totally did this for me!  ;)

Side note:  The lady told him not to waste his money on pedicures anymore.  She said he had the best feet she had ever seen!  (Oh dear!  As if his head wasn't big enough already.  Now, he knows he has better than average feet!)  Ha!

I need to add another little funny here.

While I was relaxing in the quiet room waiting for my massage, a woman in her 50's came in and disrobed and got into the pool NAKED!  I was like....alrighty then.  It was just a wee bit uncomfortable since I was the only other person in the room at the time.  Yikes!  I guess some people are just more comfortable in their naked skin than I am. Wow!

I couldn't wait to share this with Bart.  I knew he would find it funny!

Well, to my surprise, he told me he took a dip in the men's pool NAKED too!

WHAT?!?!?!

To say I was shocked would be an understatement!!!

My husband is way too shy to do that!  Only, I guess he's not, after all.  LOL!

He said he was the only one in there at the time, and he always wanted to try it, so he just went for it.  Haha!

I am pretty sure I laughed about that for 2 days.  That was not like him AT ALL!  It still makes me chuckle to think about it.

While on our little get-a-way, we went to Ivy's for dinner.  Ivy's is the place we used to go to for special occasions while we were dating.  We went there the night Bart proposed to me, and we even had our rehearsal dinner there.

It did not disappoint!  It was still as good as we remembered!  So quaint and delicious!  :)

We took a walk along the bay when we got back.  We enjoyed a hammock and a couple of swings along the way, as we reminisced about our years together.  The breeze was so nice.  That was a bonus!  :)

Judd kept texting me asking for a picture of our room.  Ha!  I sent him this picture of Bart having B'fast in bed the next morning.

We ended our little trip with a stop in downtown Fairhope.  We ate at Dragon Fly and went by to see Jacqueline at the book store.  We loved Dragon Fly!  It's just a little hole in the wall, but it was so yummy!

Take a look at the special of the day...

That says, "Braised Ox Tail & Tongue Taco".  No thank you!  We went with Tai chicken and firecracker shrimp tacos and they were awesome!

On our way home, we stopped by to see Bart's good friend from high school, Steve, and his daughter, Patricia.  It was great seeing them!

One more thing I want to document, so I don't forget.  While visiting with Steve and Patricia, I got a call from Mee Maw, who had the boys.  The conversation went like this....

Mee Maw:  Tonya, we are at the country club and we are looking at a tornado.  What should we do?
Me:  Oh goodness!  Okay.  Where are you exactly?
Mee Maw:  We are in the family dining room, but there are lots of windows in here.  No one else is in here.
Me:  Okay.  Where is everyone else?
Mee Maw:  I think in the kitchen.  Should we leave and try to get home?
Me:  No!  Stay put!
Mee Maw:  Okay.
Me:  Is it coming towards you, or going away from you?
Mee Maw:  It looks like it's headed this way.
Me:  Find a safe place...the kitchen, a bathroom stall, etc...

And the conversation went on like this for about 2 minutes.  Mee Maw was just as calm and cool as ever.  Meanwhile, I started to sweat bullets as soon as I heard "tornado"!  We hung up and I went and told Bart what was going on.  We decided we better hurry and get back (although I was dreading crossing the causeway with the weather like it was).  We just said a prayer and left.  On the way home, Mee Maw called to tell me the tornado broke up and it was gone.  Whew!  Thank you God!

What they thought was a tornado, actually turned out to be a water spout.  I had never heard of a water spout before.  Here is a picture of the one they saw...

Yikes!  It turns out, it was actually over on the eastern shore near us and we had no idea!  Is that crazy, or what?  I am so thankful everyone was ok!  For a minute, I thought the tornadoes had followed us from Oklahoma.  Yikes!

We reunited with the boys soon after that and then met Mandy for dinner.  So good to get to see her again!

We had such a nice time at the Grand Hotel and enjoyed our massages so much!  We have decided to make massages a new anniversary tradition for us from this point on!  I think after 19 years of marriage, we have earned it!  ;)
