Our Non-Traditional Christmas
We had a very quiet, non-traditional Christmas this year. We spent Christmas in the executive, furnished apartment Bart's work supplied him. It was really nice. I could've stayed there for the remainder of our apartment time, but it was too far away from Prosper and too expensive to stay in long term. It was super nice!
The first thing I did when we got there was try to make it feel like Christmas. It wasn't much, but I think it helped us feel more "at home".
Poor Max was so confused. We found him hiding under this table in the little family room. It became his little spot while we were there.
Bless his little heart.
The Sunday before Christmas, we went to Prestonwood Baptist North. It's the Church right across from the neighborhood where we are building our house. Look at the big tree out front!
We spent lots of time hanging out at the little apartment playing games and watching movies. It was a welcomed break from the crazy week we had before that.
Scenes from around the apartment.
There was a minor league baseball park right behind us.
We took some beautiful walks. It looks like Fall here with all of the orange leaves.
The boys had fun collecting acorns. We didn't have trees at our house in Tulsa so acorns are new to them! Haha!
On Christmas Eve, I took the boys to breakfast at Einstein Bro. Yum!
This picture tells the real story.
After breakfast, we braved a VERY big mall and Target. Then, we came home and baked cookies for Santa. Truth be told, Mrs. Claus enjoyed them the most! ;) They might've been slice-n-bake, but they were so good!
Mrs. Claus may have even had them with her coffee for breakfast one or two mornings. Shhhhhh! ;)
We took naps (because we could). It was so nice!
On Christmas Eve, we went to First Baptist McKinney. It was a really nice service. I loved this wooded area outside of the Church. I made the boys stop for a picture! :)
After Church, we went and got our traditional Mexican food and then went back to the apartment and watched a movie together. The boys went to bed in anticipation of Christmas morning!
Santa Came! :)
I-Pad Minis! Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!
After we opened presents I went to fix a breakfast casserole. Well, somehow I lost the sausage. Yes, you read that right. I LOST the sausage. Who does that?? I have no idea what happened to it. So, I made eggs and crescent rolls and cinnamon rolls (from a can) instead. It wasn't a wonderful breakfast like we would usually have on Christmas morning, but it was fine.
Later in the day, I rolled up my sleeves, put on my apron, and got busy cooking warming our Christmas dinner. Ha!
It was actually really good! We ordered it from a restaurant around the corner. We still have dressing and ham in our freezer. It was a ton of food! And very tasty too!
After lunch we did a lot of this....
We went outside to play some football and walk the dog.
My monkeys in a tree!
Crazy kid!
That pretty much summed up Christmas day for us. The highlight of our Christmas came the next day!
Stay tuned.....
