Our Max...

I have not blogged the latest about Max.  I guess I am in a little bit of denial.  Our little Max isn't doing so well.  We have seen his health go down in the last year.  He sleeps, on average, 21-22 hours a day.  He breathes heavy even when he's awake.   He has a "bulging belly".  He can fall asleep sitting up.  It's like he's a little old man.  :(  He had a couple of spells that were either seizures or fainting spells.  After having some tests done, the vet thinks he probably has cancer.  The "bulging belly", is more than likely a tumor, possibly filled with fluid.  His x-rays and calcium counts aren't great.  So, we have our little max on a special diet of healthy dog food, green beans and apple slices.  We are just keeping an eye on him and will check back with the vet in a few months to redo the lab work.

We love Max so much and he loves us too!  He is the best behaved, best natured, and well adjusted dog we have ever had!  Having moved from Georgia, to Oklahoma and to Texas, he just goes with the flow.  Even though he sleeps most of the day/night, when he is up and awake, he is a VERY happy dog!  He loves to be outside and BEGS to go outside every day!  He loves to go on walks!  He loves to play with other dogs.  He LOVES to ride in the car!  The day he doesn't want to go for a car ride or go outside anymore, is the day I'll know he is done.  Until then, we will love him, play with him, walk him and take care of him!
