The Roberts Take On New Orleans

We decided to detour into New Orleans on our way back to Texas.  The boys had never been, so we thought we would introduce them to a part of the country they had not seen before.  To say it was eye opening, is an understatement.  ;)

We boarded Max at a vet a friend in Slidell told us about.  And since Slidell is on the way to New Orleans, we thought it would be the perfect time to show the boys where we started out 21 years ago.

First stop, The Olde Town OK Bicycle Shop for some lunch.  This was one of our favorites back in the day.

Next, we took the boys to our very first apartment we lived in when we got married.  YIKES!  Lock your doors!  It was scary!!

We showed them our townhouse on the canal.  It hadn't changed much.

We ended our Slidell tour with snow cones from our favorite date night spot!  ;)

We took the boys on a real swamp tour!  It was one of the highlights of our trip for sure!

Look at that gator!!

After the swamp tour, we headed on to New Orleans.  We grabbed some dinner then let the boys swim in the hotel pool.  Not a bad view, if I do say so myself!

Our hotel was gorgeous!

This boy cracks me up!

We introduced the boys to Cafe' Du Monde's beignets the next morning for breakfast.  MMMMMM!

Next up, the aquarium!

Some sights on the streets of New Orleans.

A film crew was setting up to film NCIS NOLA!  So cool!!

We went back to the hotel for a swim since it was so hot.  Then, we washed the sweat, dirt and SIN off and headed to dinner in a fancy restaurant in our hotel.  We were told the cast of "Twilight" dined there when they came to town.  Very cool!  I was a little intimidated by the menu....

(Squid Ink, Rabbit, Oxtail Ragu'....No thank you!  I stuck with a pasta dish (no meat).  ;)

We headed back to Slidell Saturday morning for breakfast at a cute place in downtown.

Lastly, we picked up Max and hit the road!

We had a great time in Alabama and New Orleans, but we are so glad to be back home for a while!  :)   I'd say we are good for another 17 years, as far as visiting New Orleans goes.  Not really our thing so much.  ;)   And if I don't see another fried shrimp until next summer, it won't be too soon!

That's a wrap!
