Our Summer With Sonia - Part 7
We were so happy to be able to celebrate Sonia's 11th Birthday with her while she was here this summer! She counted down to August 18th the whole summer. She was SO EXCITED!!
I wanted to give her the BEST American Birthday party we could. So, in keeping with our family tradition, she woke up to her bathroom, bedroom door, and the kitchen all decorated in honor of her big day!
So fun!!
She finally woke up around 11! The girl can sleep! 😜
Surprise! It's YOUR day!! (Of course, Marina came to help celebrate!)
Family present time!
Ready for her pool party! LOL!
We were so thankful for the friends that came by to help us celebrate our girl! She had a blast!
After the party we came home to finish opening her gifts from us!
That night we had "Meet the Eagles", so she and Marina came along for the fun!
We stopped by Peachwave afterwards for one more Birthday treat! Hello sugar!!
These two! 😆😆😆😆
We went to a Mexican restaurant after Church on Sunday. I wanted her to get to experience them singing to her! It was great! Haha!
This pretty much sums up how I felt after the weekend! ;)
The next day, she and I went shopping so she could spend the Birthday money Mimi and Big Daddy sent her!
The following day, Tamryn came over to hang out. They went bike riding, did crafts and made unicorn smoothies!
Can you say sugar high??!!
This girl loved taking Cooper on walks (and taking selfies)! ;)
We wanted to do something fun for her last weekend with us, so we took her to the Ft. Worth Zoo. It was a hot day, but still fun! She loves animals, so we knew this would be the best way to end her time here with us.
I love this so much! Her smile! :)
Skye arrived just before Sonia left, so they got to meet. Our friends are adopting Skye. She is such a sweet girl! They both hit it off right away!
Sonia picked out a gift for Skye!
And then we went to a local Russian market to pick out a few treats. She was in heaven in her element, speaking her language!
She also finally got to have KFC! Ha! She had asked for it several times while here.
We invited over a friend of mine from Ukraine and had a Russian/Ukrainian tea. We served some of the goodies we bought at the Russian market the day before. It was so fun getting to see them talk in their native tongue.
Thank you Yana!
Sonia was very clingy the last few days she was here. Bless her heart. She just didn't want to be far from me. 😥 This was a couple of nights before she left to fly back to Ukraine.
Cooper misses her so much! I catch him looking for her from time to time. 😥
The day before she left was spent packing and telling her friends goodbye.
One last family dinner!
Then it was time for the dreaded early morning flight...
Our girl made it safely back home. It's just not the same without her here. We miss her fun, spunky, girly self. She brought something into our family that we will never forget!
We love you, Sonia!
